# Enable MFA using an Authentication App

This article will guide you on how to enable a security factor on your JuanTax account using an Auth App.

**STEP 1:** In your authenticator app, add a new account. For Google Authenticator, click the plus icon and click **Add Account**.

**STEP 2:** Scan the barcode showing in JuanTax into your authenticator app and hit **Next**.

**STEP 3:** Enter the authentication code provided by your authenticator app into JuanTax, then click **Next**.

**STEP 4:** A pop-up modal will appear where you can set up your **Security Questions**.

Choose a question from a setlist that you will answer to authenticate yourself. This is an alternative way of identifying you as the user when:

-   you forgot your password
    
-   you did not receive your OTP
    
-   your authenticator app is not working
    
-   you entered the wrong credentials too many times
    
-   you try logging in from an unfamiliar device or location

That's it! You will receive a notification that 2FA was successfully enabled.
